Previs Artist

About the Role

You’ll work closely with the Director, Cinematographer, and Lead Previs Artist to help define the visual style and rhythm of our high-end CG productions. Your work will form the blueprint that guides the rest of the production – from camera layouts and scene blocking to the early beats of animation.

Responsibilities

• Creating staging, camera layouts, and animatics based on the storyboard and directorial guidance
• On-set presence during mocap shoots when needed, under the direction of the Assistant Director
• Building scenes using existing layouts and assets, including placement of key characters, props, and FX
• Adding rough lighting elements and atmosphere, and blocking out major animation beats
• Finalizing camera motions (including shake), shot creation, blastouts, and version updates
• Following technical requirements within DIGIC’s pipeline (e.g., dProject tracking and updates)
• Understanding input-output dependencies in the production pipeline and working accordingly
• Proactively flagging missing information, technical blockers, or quality concerns to Leads and Production
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth delivery across the pipeline

Essential skills

You’re the one we’re looking for if you have.

• Strong visual storytelling skills and a good sense of rhythm and cinematography
• Understanding of camera work, editing, and animation basics
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
• Openness to feedback and a drive for artistic and technical improvement
• Experience using Maya, at least one editing software (e.g., Premiere), and Photoshop
• Mid-level English proficiency
• At least 1–2 years of experience in a previs artist role
• Located and working according to the EU time zone

Desirable skills

• Knowledge of film theory and asset production workflows
• On-set mocap or layout experience
• Comfort working with evolving pipelines and creative input from multiple departments

Our team is currently working on several high-profile projects, including the animated film series based on the world-famous card game Magic: The Gathering for Netflix.

Location: Full-time | This role is Hungary based. You must be based in Hungary or committed to relocating from within Europe ideally. (Due to the project schedule and Immigration timings)
