Software Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Digital Social and Messaging team within Genesys Cloud. This team designs, builds, and operates highly available communication services that power customer experience across digital channels such as Google, X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp.

In this role, you will help deliver scalable, secure, and reliable social and messaging services. You will work on distributed cloud-based systems that support message routing, delivery, tracking, integrations, and operational visibility across multiple digital channels. The ideal candidate has a get-it-done attitude, is a problem solver and is ready to learn new things constantly.

Responsibilities / Job Duties

• Build and extend digital channels with social platforms such as Google, X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other third-party providers
• Implement and extend features across data ingestion, data aggregation, data retrieval, message routing, delivery, tracking, analytics, observability, and operational tooling
• Write automated tests at the unit, integration, and end-to-end layers as part of the features
• Add the monitoring, alerting, and operational code and tooling needed to run what you build
• Improve system reliability, scalability, performance, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
• Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation and contribute to continuous improvement of service operations
• Experiment with new technologies, AI-assisted development workflows, and modern engineering approaches

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend and distributed systems
• Upper intermediate or above written and spoken English
• Proficiency in Typescript or Java with the ability to work across multiple backend technologies
• Experience working with NoSQL or relational databases
• Experience building cloud native or microservice-based applications
• Hands-on experience with automated testing and continuous integration
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills capable of translating problems into practical solutions

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or other cloud platforms
• Experience with DynamoDB or other NoSQL data stores
• Familiarity with multiple programming languages such as TypeScript and Java
• Understanding RESTful API design and service-oriented architecture
• Exposure to logging / observability alerting tools such as SumoLogic / New Relic / PagerDuty or similar
• Experience with monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident management tools
• Experience building or supporting real-time messaging or collaboration platforms
• Experience with Google, X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or other third-party providers
• Experience working in distributed teams
