Staff Software Engineer

Your Day to Day

Mercury and Hamster are the two engineering teams behind LogMeIn Resolve’s Helpdesk and Inventory Management capabilities — together, our IT Service Management (ITSM) surface.

As a Staff Software Engineer at LogMeIn Resolve, you would be working on:

• AI-Native Systems Architecture — You will design and own highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable architecture for AI-powered features spanning our Mercury and Hamster teams. Our stack is primarily Node and Java on the backend, React and Lit on the frontend, deployed on AWS via Terraform—but we care far more about how fast you get productive in any environment than about a specific stack match.
• Constraint Engineering — You will bring an already-mature discipline for building reliable systems on top of stochastic, LLM-based systems: diagnosing failures at the right layer and correcting them with the right pattern, quantifying the cost and reliability of AI-powered features, and building reproducible harnesses that turn hard-won lessons into reusable tooling rather than tribal knowledge.
• Cross-Team Technical Leadership — You will mentor engineers across two teams, raise the bar on code quality and AI-assisted engineering practice, and align architecture decisions with technical peers across the organization.
• Continuous Improvement — You will lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis, contribute to hiring and interview processes, and evolve how the organization builds and evaluates AI-powered features as the tooling landscape matures.

What We’re Looking For

As a Staff Software Engineer, your background will look like:

• A strong track record of owning highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable system architecture at a Staff level, or clearly ready for it
• Very strong, daily, professional use of AI coding tools as a core part of how you build software—not occasional use
• Already fluent in engineering reliable systems on top of stochastic, LLM-based systems—diagnosing failures at the right layer, quantifying cost and reliability, and building reproducible evaluation harnesses—this is not something we have the bandwidth to teach from scratch
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence architecture across teams, and ramp into an unfamiliar stack or environment quickly
• Curiosity and a growth mindset—you already keep up with how AI tooling is evolving and actively apply it to solve real engineering problems
