System Engineer in Cloud

Product Development Group PDG CEE (within PDU CLCS, Business Area Cloud Software & Services) has end-to-end ownership of the Cloud Execution Environment (CEE) — Ericsson's OpenStack and OPNFV-based virtual infrastructure manager (VIM), the virtualisation, control and management layer of our market-leading NFVi solution.

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer who will be responsible for the OpenStack System Area in the CEE development organisation, working with international teams across Sweden, Hungary and India.

What you will do:

• Lead the technical integration and ongoing evolution of OpenStack components within the CEE
• Translate high-level requirements into well-defined, implementable features and delivery plans
• Produce system and feature studies, evaluations and clear implementation proposals
• Drive and contribute hands-on to development activities and prototyping
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
• Act as an active member of the Technical System Management team
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and the upstream open-source team

The skills you bring:

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in systems engineering, senior development or technical leadership roles
• Hands-on experience with cloud system development and integration of open-source components (OpenStack highly desirable)
• Strong Linux system administration skills and proficiency in programming/scripting (Python, Bash)
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Proven ability to work across teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences
• A pragmatic, hands-on mentality and commitment to high-quality, maintainable solutions
